Jim Ott, psychologist and co-founder of the Getting Ahead program in Dubuque, Iowa, will be returning to The Salvation Army in Willmar for the Bridges Out of Poverty one day training on Friday, September 25th from 8:30-3:30. This training is essential for steering committee members, mentors, volunteers and others who are interested in partnering with The Salvation Army in this new initiative. The training will help the Willmar community understand how they can move individuals from poverty to self-sufficiency; reduce social costs related to crime, poor health, and welfare; strengthen educational attainment and job skills; enhance economic development; improve on-the-job productivity; revitalize neighborhoods; and build sustainable communities where everyone can live well.
